1. K&R I know some don't care for celebs who use their cultural platform politically...
...and while I'm not a devout follower of the celeb culture by any means, if it helps draw attention to an important cause - people take their behavioral cues from the media they consume - than I'm all for it.

2. those people usually don't like it only when their celebs disagree
with them.

Doing the right thing doesn't involve being judgmental about controversy. Those celebs are indeed taking a risk that they won't be hired again or that they'll lose fans and credibility and support.

More power to them if what they're fighting for is human and civil rights.

Recently there was a thread here re recognizable celebs who are right-wingers. The list was astonishingly l o n g ...actually surprised me. Guess I'd fallen for the ol "liberal" Hollyweird meme.
