Mind you, I'm all in favor of California style smoking laws (there isn't any indoor smoking in public spaces in CA), but I know for a fact that many theaters and movie sets allow smoking that is part of the performance.

For Ron White, his act includes him smoking (usually a cigar) and a glass of fine scotch.

Ron White would do life in prison based on his act...

I think he goes to the same tanning salon as John Boehner

I have to admit, Ron Smith is funny as hell. Plus, he had a LOT to say re: "I still have civil rights, don't I?" after he got busted recently.

previously recorded, some of them years ago. I have never seen him NOT smoking a cigar - it is a trademark part of his character on stage.

I assume that anyone would know this if they actually spent the money to see him in person. This must have been a set up by the police.

I am certain this will become part of his act, the continuing saga of Tater Salad White.

I only somewhat know of him and even I would expect him to be smoking and drinking. Caveat Emptor in this case, I'd say. It's like going to a Dead show and being aghast at a whiff of pot. But I like your idea that the cops are using a "complaint" as cover, too.

not known for their theater..I doubt the ND lawmakers even considered such an exemption.

First it was "smoking is annoying".

Then it was "smoking is bad for the smoker and it's annoying"

Then it was, "smoking is bad for the smoker and other people breathing in his smoke, and it's annoying"

Then it was "smoking is bad for the smoker, and if you can smell where a cigarette has been, and it's annoying."

Then it was my personal favorite, "I'm allergic to smoking." Well , no you aren't or you would already be on the way to the hospital, but fuck you very much you whiny....sorry I got off track.

I can't imagine paying $40-50 to go see him and NOT knowing that.

I'd let him do heroin on my stage if he wanted--the guy is incredibly talented.

He could have very easily applied for a permit. That's usually what happens when a show comes in with smoke, or pyro.

Instead he blows it off and gets a story in PunchlineMagazine.com.

I toured with him when he was a sports-jacket-with-the-sleeves-pushed-up yuppie, trying to get some stage experience. I heard all his lines before the rest of America. If I had the choice to see Bill for free or pay $100.00 to see Ron White, I'd pay the hundred dollars.
