Nevada Senate rejects Gibbons' veto of partnership bill

The Nevada Senate voted 14-7 Saturday to override Gov. Jim Gibbons’ veto of a measure that gives domestic partners, whether gay or straight, many of the rights and benefits that Nevada offers to married couples.

The Senate vote — the required two-thirds majority with no votes to spare — on SB283 must be affirmed by the Assembly to enact the measure into state lawbooks over the governor’s objections.

SB283 provided that domestic partners have the same rights as married couples in matters such as community property and responsibility for debts.

4. OMG! What will our Lord and Master, The Great Satan, think of us now?
Now what will all of our Decent and God Fearing families do now that their Holy Sacrament of Marriage has been sullied through the implication that others are not (necessarily) inferior to them?

It's The End Times! Jesus is Coming (or at least breathing hard)!

8. Satan is probably getting frustrated that the marriage that dare not speak its name ...
... isn't already legal in America's Crotch.

11. What are the chances of the Assembly doing the same?
It's a good thing that the veto override passed the state senate, but what matters now is the state assembly. The article doesn't say what the vote there was for the bill originally.

On the bright side however, the article said the bill passed with 12 votes in the state senate originally, but constituent feedback from straight couples & lobbyist efforts (not even from gay rights groups, but gaming & lodging groups). We picked up 2 votes from republicans because of that.
