Are truck drivers from Mexico now allowed to cross the border
and run to the delivery point in the US ? Are they allowed return loads?

1. This was a plan, IMHO, to undermine the dockworkers in CA. I bet much of what they're
delivering is coming from China and the Orient.

5. Wow, no attack yet about your "racist" comment?

Anything about foreign workers taking away potential jobs would be jumped on back in the day.

2. Yes they can.
They have always been allowed to run within 150 miles of the border. Last year certain companies were allowed to start coming further in. I know that certain groups were trying to block that. I don't know if they ever did though.

4. That was a bush pilot program.
They were always allowed to go to delivery points close to the border. The bush expanded it to include all of the US. But Congress stopped it in the Omnibus bill of 2009 which Obama signed in March.

"President Obama has signed a bill ending the 18-month-old cross-border trucking program with Mexico, but initiated efforts to meet North American Free Trade Agreement obligations.

Yesterday, March 11, Obama signed the 2009 Omnibus Appropriations bill, which included a provision to end the Department of Transportation’s trucking project, which was to allow 100 Mexican carriers to do business beyond the border zone in the United States, and a reciprocal number of U.S. carriers to do the same in Mexico."

Obama would like, however, to develop a trucking system that would address the problems that many of the US Unions objected to in the bush plan. Nothing has been developed yet.

But world Nut Daily claims Obama has reinstated the bush pilot program. But if you're listening to the world nut daily you are getting nothing but lies and manipulation.

6. Living on the border, I have experience with mexican trucks
They always have been able to cross and the trucks are junk. Bald tires or retreads coming off. Lots of brake problems when they are inspected. They were allowed to enter further into the US last year but that has stopped and the Mexican government has imposed tariffs in retaliation. I have no problem if the trucks and drivers meet all US regulations.
