Stop empowering the right-wing hate machine.......ignore them
Stop listening to Rush, Hanity, Beck, G. Gordon, Savage.......et al
Stop watching Fox (no one else is watching them, their ratings are in the toilet)
Stop exposing yourself to their hate and smears.
The only power that the idiots like Newt, Coulter and the other disgraced right wing bomb throwers get is when we give it to them.
If you know that a "media source" often quotes the garbage, ignore them as well.

So what if Newt calls Sotomayor something. Her nomination will be decided in the Senate..dont we have the majority, and last time I looked, Newt was no longer in office.

I'm not telling you to kill your tv, but you sure would have a lot less stress if you didnt worry about concerning yourself with what idiots that have no power are saying or doing. There are always going to be idiots and if you bang your head against a wall everytime one of them opens their mouthes you will spend all your days with a headache.

I'm not telling anyone what to do, but suggesting that my life has become a lot less stressed since I stopped worrying about what some people are doing or saying. I did cut the cable a year ago and since then, my world has become a lot smaller and a lot more peaceful. Oh look there's a birdie on the branch outside my window. I think I'll ride my bike to the beach later on...... Yall keep gnashing your teeth

2. I hear ya
I watch Olbermann and Maddow and thats pretty much it. Daytime cable news is trash and lies and not necessarily in that order. I take trash out to be collected to be taken to the landfills, lies I pay no attention too. I'm for the most part one happy person for doing things like that

bought forgot been catching tweety of late since his last transformation to a dem.

4. Unfortunately, even Olbermann and Maddow think Obama must be perfect, and do everything RIGHT NOW.

I am quite happy with him, just the way he is. I must be in the minority around here because I think he is doing a really good job.

I will also give him quite a bit of time to get us out of the huge mess he inherited. EVERYTHING is a crisis.

He needs a bit of maneuvering room, and to be cut some slack, for pity sakes.

6. Sorry, but you're wrong.
Ignoring them is not going to make them go away, because it's not about making liberals mad. It's about firing up their base . Most of their audience's information about liberals or perceived lilberals is filtered through what they read on right wing websites, hear on talk radio, or see on Fox News. Those people, believe me, are not taking their cue from liberals or even from moderates.

And people like Coulter or Limbaugh are not going to get embarrassed and slink away because liberals no longer talk about them. Their arguments just get more quickly and efficiently folded into mainstream political speech.

1. Must know the enemy.
2. Keep friends close, enemies closer.
3. Ostriches, sand.
4. Ratings come from Neilsen raters and (radio) Arbitron. Not from unregistered.
5. A clearinghouse like DU gathers intell, brainstorms, strategizes.
6. Firsthand knowledge and experience trumps hearsay, hearsay putting one at the mercy of the interpretations of others.
7. Readiness to repel wingnuts instead of being caught flatfooted.

Romain ROLLAND had a short story about a very cultured and civilized professor during the rise of Naziism. As the horror of the barbarians became clear, the professor was appalled. So what was his response? He withdrew into his beautiful world, closed himself off within his books, art, music.
