Check this out:
The notorious Answers In Genesis billboard with the kid point a handgun at the viewer says "If God doesn't matter to him, do you?"
Apparently this is meant to imply that atheists, or generally non-religious people, are prone to be murderers. Although there are obvious problems with that logic, contrast that message to the spoken message in this video from the same organization, featuring the same kid, pointing the same gun:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miULdI-qocgThe message spoken at the end of the video is "If you don't matter to God, you don't matter to anyone."
Notice that the video carries a completely different message. In fact, it could even be interpreted as the opposite of the billboard message because it seems to imply that a religious person is prone to shoot someone who "doesn't matter to God". Instead of "beware people who don't believe because they'll kill you", the message is "believe or we'll kill you." (And isn't that particularly ironic in the light of the recent shooting murder of that Wichita abortion doctor?)
I think the honest answer is that the narrator of the YouTube video simply blew his lines and meant to say something more in harmony with the billboard, like "if God doesn't matter to you then no one matters to you" (Edit: or more likely, "If you don't care about God, you don't care about anyone.") but it's interesting how his words actually came out, isn't it? Could it be that his true inner desire to kill atheists influenced his words and no one else at Answers In Genesis even noticed?
Please recommend this. I think it's a serious issue and I hope to get lots of input from others here on DU.
