To any FOOL who thinks Obama, after just 4 months, is protecting Bush too much I say:
THANK YOU for standing up for the Constitution.

THANK YOU for holding his feet to the fire, and making him KEEP HIS WORD.

THANK YOU for speaking truth to power.

I support, and voted for this president, BUT I WILL NOT PRETEND about shit, not even for a "united front". The Obama administration, AS RECENTLY AS FRIDAY, was "dialing back" some support for Sotomayor because some reich wing asshole called her a reverse racist. They should have told these people to go to hell in a handbasket, but noooooooooooooooooooooooooo, we get the "plan b" bullshit. And don't even get me started on the water boarding fiasco, because I think there are some former members of the last administration who deserve some TREASON charges for that bullshit.

Barack Obama is a big boy. He made promises. It is our DUTY to hold him as closely to those promises as our Constitution will allow.

2. I am tired of seeing people made to feel like traitors for his shortcomings.
And that *really* burns my ass, because half the time, I think his detractors are way off base.

But not all the time.

And certainly not in either of the two instances i described.

( just coming from the original "to any fool" thread )...

"what is this, are they starting a 'to any fool' thread series now?"

Thanks for disappointing that expectation! ;)

12. I am hoping he is not that impotent...
...and can muster to capacity to lead instead -- by comporting with his oath of office to enforce our laws and meet our treaty obligations.

Thus far that's been too audacious a hope.

17. I don't think it's impotence as much as expedience...but WE need to be vigilant
and keep a watchful eye. Washington DC is full of compromise. WE need to control how compromised it gets.

23. Impotence is the result. And the political "optics."
Whether it arises from (corrupt) imagined expedience, or he truly believes that torture should remain unpunished is doesn't really help anyone nor does it http://www.reuters.com/article/politicsNews/idUSTRE53H1Y020090418">impact his own potential liability.

I suppose the former allows for a hope that it might become more expedient to do the right thing someday. Which might be cause for celebration. But only reinforces the "optics."

46. I know and that sounds so catchy too.
In an authoritarian society, leaders have no problem leading. But in a Democracy leaders need to have the public behind them. I think Pres Obama wants the public outrage to help him make some of the tough decisions. I don't blame him, as long as he makes the decisions.

Leaders in a democracy don't lead, they have to be pushed.

It's a good thing we had an authoritarian nation in the 60's. Otherwise segregation would still be in effect.

Obama is too involved with making nice -- while Bush ripped everything apart.

Obamaa can and should undue what Bush did -- end the wars NOW -- get Single Payer moving --

and restore the Constitution.

Thanks for the post!!

35. For the sake of peace and for the sake of the world,
we need to take a stand against all who torture. There is no acceptable defense for those who brutalize a person who is detained in their custody. This should apply equally in every country to every group including every government.

No excuse, no acceptable defense.

36. Thanks So Much For Your Post!!! I Too Am SICK Of This CRAP & I'm
also tired of hearing others attacked because they want to protect THE CONSTITUTION!!

And I know MANY, MANY, MANY here have said this before... IF THIS WERE BUSHCO, there would be such an outcry and wringing of hands, but yet Obama continues EACH MONTH with yet another "bomblette" of information!

I too worked very hard in a VERY, VERY RED COUNTY to get him elected... and yes it's better than McCAIN/PALIN, but I KNEW what THEY were going to do!!!!! I DIDN'T dream that when Democrats were handed EVERYTHING, they would STILL be cowering and going along with REPUKES!!

Got a letter from DNC today, on the the outside it said "We Need You!" They wanted MO' MONEY! I wrote back on their letter and said YOU DON'T NEED ME... you just need money and I ain't giving you ANY!! And the return envelope had the usual message asking that I USE MY STAMP so THEY can save MO' MONEY!!

I didn't use a stamp either!

No caps on credit cards& concealed weapons in national parks. So believe me, I understand your frustration on the issues you brought up. I feel the same way. Thank you for having the courage to say it. I dont know why anyone has to feel disloyal for disagreeing with some of Obamas decisions. You work to get Democrats elected & I think it's only fair to hold their feet to the fire. They are suppose to work for us, not the other way around.
