The Hypocrites in the Catholic Church

My question to everyone in this, "how can the Catholic church possibly take a moral position on anything? How can they be anti-abortion, against gay rights or any other social issue? Haven't they read the book? "What you do to the least of my children, you do unto me"..sayeth the Lord. Am I missing something here, or what? Don't you think that it's time for them to "hunker down" in the Vatican and tend to they're own business?
