5. The second the group was fired upon. Could only stick around for a few secs
when the van arrived.

I live 10 minutes from Ft. Bragg. Airplanes, fighter jets, even saw a couple of those heli/airplane hybrid things (can't remember the name) and all sorts of helicopters fly over aaaaaalllllll the time.

You can hear them from quite a distance. If you're not busy or if you're not familiar with the sound you tend to look up and around. I'd like to assume (perhaps mistakenly) that in a war zone, an insurgent would have at least glanced up and around at that sound, even if it's at a distance.

These people did nothing, kept walking and talking. Never looked up.

Then they were slaughtered.

Ugly.
