If you go to FOX News' Web site, you're greeted by a front page headline, titled "EXCLUSIVE: Seismic Events Recorded Not Far From Mine Disaster Site"
Of course, when you click into the story, you see that the seismic activity happened in Braxton County in the northeast- not exactly near the mine and took place days before the explosion. I guess it was a really slow spark that ignited the gas.
To give you an idea what a nonevent it was, I live about halfway between the epicenter and the mine. I felt nothing. No one in my town did either.
No one in this area could take this idea seriously. The local media, who have covered mining issue for decades and know a little bit about this sort of thing aren't considering it.
And FOX didn't "discover" the minor quakes. They made headlines when they took place a few days ago.
Only FOX is dumb enough to try to link them to what happened at the mine.
So, you be the judge:
Sloppy quickie "scoop" to satisfy a 24/7 newscycle or deliberate attempt to get an unsafe mine off the hook and blame it on "an act of God" (as is the usual Massey defense for sludge spills and fatalities)?
Bear in mind that Massey is run by a staunch Republican.
