Can somebody please call a Waahmbulance for the Heritage Foundation?
Edited on Wed Apr-07-10 08:40 AM by ck4829
Since the Heritage Foundation defines itself as "a conservative think tank that is at the forefront of the pro-globalization perspective," it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that it favors Republican presidential administrations.

Taegan Goddard's Political Wire at CQ notes, "The Heritage Foundation no longer ranks the United States as a free country. We're now just 'mostly free.'"

According to the 2010 Index of Economic Freedom, the United States has fallen below the 100-80 percent "free" bar, losing 2.7 points last year to land at 78.

Interestingly, Canada, a country whose health system has been demonized by conservatives during the US reform debate, stands at 80.4, number seven on the list, and one rank higher than the "mostly free" United States.

We're also behind Singapore, a country with plenty of freedoms for the wealthy and the corporations, but next to none for the individual, and is a de facto single party state.

Another thing about Canada. How many times has Harper taken the reins of government by himself and told Parliament to take a hike? And the Heritage Foundation doesn't factor this in, why?

1. surprise?
I assume that those right wing think tanks were created to do nothing more than prop up Conservative administrations and ideas.

It's brilliant, really; they act as the expert/authority for media sources to cite, lending conservative propaganda an air of legitimacy that sadly fools a lot of people.

2. So, the PATRIOT Act, wiretapping, no-fly lists, protest cages,...
and all the other stuff going on didn't reduce our freedoms?

It's only NOW, under a "socialist" President, that we lose them?

3. So, did they mention?
Did they happen to mention what alleged freedom it is we lost?

6. Unable to recognize their own hypocrisy and in love with fascism.
They think they'll be exempt from the same policies they want to impose on the rest of U.S. (and they may be - at first).

8. At the "forefront of pro-globalization perspective", eh?
Might be time to make up some flyers highlighting that claim, and a list of their "fellows" and contributors, and pass them out at Teabagger events. They just lurv themselves those pro-globalizers.

Granted it'll largely get ignored because it's not on the RushGlennSarah play list, but hey, nothing can take root if you don't bother sowing the seeds.

9. Can we call the hearse instead?
Won't the "Heritage Foundation" just up and die already, like PNAC?
