Brian Lamb on Offensive Callers (c-span)

http://blogs.cqpolitics.com/trailmix/2010/04/brian-lamb-on-offensive-caller.html

In our chat before the latest flap, C-SPAN's CEO put the matter to rest, in my view. Brian Lamb, also a founder of the cable industry's iconic channel for civic-minded viewers, convincingly explains to me in this video clip why he believes so strongly in not screening callers, no matter how foolish their views might be.

-snip video-

The week after our interview, a North Carolina caller caused yet another debate over C-SPAN's open-phones policy by saying the network was allowing so many black viewers to call in that it should change its name to "Black-SPAN." Here's that clip . . .

-snip video and further comments-

-------------------------

I didn't look at the first video but did watch Wash. Journal the day of the second video

I'm not fond of Lamb.

nutty and or racist callers don't bother me. what bothers me is when the host doesn't correct lies told by callers!

1. the open line policy really reveals the stupidity and baseness of GOP supporters
For the reason alone, the open-line policy should continue so we never forget how RW can be so easily manipulated by the Corporate RW Political propoganda machine.

2. Hosts are instructed not to correct or comment on callers' comments. No matter what. nt

3. I wouldn't change their open phone policy for anything, and no delays either
And I very nearly never miss Washington Journal.
