CNN Brass Call Bill Press a Liar about Erickson's Census Shotgun Remark
Edited on Wed Apr-07-10 11:52 AM by RamboLiberal
Interestingly, Bill Press, who asked Gibbs about Erickson, tweets that CNN management did not appreciate his raising the question at the White House.

"CNN brass emailed me after I asked Gibbs about Erickson, saying I MADE UP the quotes and was out of line. Bullshit - I quoted DIRECTLY," he said.

1. CNN will probably be repaid for their loyalty to Ericson
the same way that Glenn Beck repaid them. He'll jump to FAUX, too.

6. Maybe advertisers will not want to be associated with Mr.Erikson?
Can't see where remarks like that will look good for say a Coca-Cola to support

10. Many advertisers don't want to be associated with Beck
either. Doesn't seem to have hurt his career at FAUX at all.

4. CNN doesn't understand how recording devices work

CNN's Erickson: I'll "{p}ull out my wife's shotgun" if they try to arrest me for not filling out the American Community Survey

ERICKSON: This is crazy. What gives the Commerce Department the right to ask me how often I flush my toilet? Or about going to work? I'm not filling out this form. I dare them to try and come throw me in jail. I dare them to. Pull out my wife's shotgun and see how that little ACS twerp likes being scared at the door. They're not going on my property. They can't do that. They don't have the legal right, and yet they're trying.

Teh Crazy REALLY starts after the 3-minute mark.

He also doesn't realize Cheryl Crow was kidding about the toiletpaper thing.

9. Ericson parses -
I believe the American Community Survey is something entirely different that the census.
Still is administered by the Census bureau I believe.
And certainly an incredibly stupid and threatening thing to say.

5. I do not use the "recommend" feature often.
I used it here.

Bill Press has been out there fighting the good fight for a long time now. I don't always agree with him; frankly, although he's not at all stupid, he sometimes takes some mental shortcuts in my opinion. But he's a good guy. He's a fighter. He's a fierce pugilist for the downtrodden and wage slaves, and God bless him.

Erickson is emblematic of the lack of restraint demonstrated in the dying throes of neoconservatism in America. They're desperate; witness the growing popularity of hatemongers and emotional agitators like Beck and Bachmann. In an effort to retain the base, they've reached to the opposite extreme. I think real American voters who self-identify as conservatives are watching these shows by the millions and enjoying them as entertainment. I only hope they remember before election day that it's all been just entertainment. Unfortunately, there's also a small segment of the population which is just stupid enough to buy into all this crap, and I fear that before this cycle of insanity plays itself out there may be some serious bloodshed.

Good for Bill.

7. Bill Press needs to sue CNN
for defamation. Damage to his reputation as a serious commentator.

8. CNN is just Fox Lite. Anyone who would call them news stations is wrong.
They are a quasi-news apparatus, at best I call it Entertainews. Want real news? Watch the local channel news at 5 or 10.
