Feds to announce arrest in east Texas

DALLAS — Federal authorities who have been investigating the discovery of a series of explosive devices in east Texas said Wednesday that they have made an arrest.

A federal official declined to provide details ahead of a new conference scheduled for Wednesday afternoon in Tyler, but a news release said there was an arrest in a "significant matter."

The U.S. Attorney's Office, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and other law enforcement agencies were to be on hand.

Officials have said at least 14 devices have been found, including five reported pipe bombs. None of the devices has detonated and no injuries have been reported. Authorities have maintained that there is no imminent threat to the public.

The first reports of incendiary devices at mail facilities this spring involved bottles containing flammable liquids and wicks, authorities said. Then devices resembling pipe bombs started turning up.

4. 14 bombs is no imminent threat to the public
But one guy with a half bomb in his underwear is a national emergency.

Corporate culture will do anything but admit that right wing extremists are terrorists.

7. Why do they refer to 'pipe bombs' rather than 'IEDs'
(improvised explosive devices) in these but not other cases?

11. East Texas is a dangerous place .. to wit:
1. James Byrd, Jr.

2. Ann Richard's gallows humor bumper sticker for her staff (in her run against Bu$h, Jr.) in East Texas:

"I AM THE QUEER ANN SENT TO GET YOUR GUN."

12. Note: there is no mention of the terrorist's religion or his ancestors country of origin
Because his name is western, and he's white.
