Best illustration of the upward movement of the Obama economy
The economy and the 2010 election (with graphs!)

As we edge closer and closer to the midterms and people like me keep saying that the main thing that matters is the economy; both its absolute performance over the past 14 months and its apparent trends. But why say it when you can graph it? With the help of Dylan Matthews, I pulled together a few different ways of looking at the Obama administration's economic record. We'll start with the one that matters most to people: Job growth

Check it out! Then spread it around

7. Yea, it's champagne time. We lost 8 million jobs, created 100 thousand. Woo Hoo.

3.4 million people have been unemployed longer than a year. 1 out of every 4 homes is underwater. Detroit is talking about bulldozing parts of the city because it's so empty. If gas goes up a dollar this summer there will be another 2 million people without food on the cardboard box they are eating over.

I have an idea - lets light a fire under Obama and Congress and tell them we want a couple trillion dollars spent on main street, just like they did for the banks. Quit throwing scraps at people which props up the economy with debt and spawns fluff articles like the one above about how frigging great we are doin'. End the war in Afghanistan and funnel the 200 THOUSAND DOLLARS A MINUTE we are spending on that debacle into providing tuition-free education for the 2 million adults that need to retrain for current jobs, creating innovation centers that will focus on spawning new small businesses, and revamping the outdated industrial base (in other words, not commercial aircraft or weapons) that would support jobs so people can pay the payments that are going to be required after the government spends the latest 14 billion dollars re-financing bad mortgages for unemployed people.

I guess if someone want to throw a thimbleful of water down a well onto the dying shell of a person at the bottom, that might be considered progress by some. Or maybe my standards are just too high.

11. Agree - Huge Improvement Over Dubya - Amazing Job Consider The Mess He Inherited
Oddly, many "Democrats" seem to blame Obama for the economic mess that we are in, and ignore the direction the company was going in when President Obama took over:
