I"m just sayin.

I edited to add: I DON"T think he hiimself is a pedophile, but that he either used that info on others to amass power through blackmail or he was rewarded for the good work he did protecting them.

We have a winner here!

ETA: Did his benefactors put him into position to be considered for the Popeship? (Is Popeship a word?)
Anyway, was there blackmail involved?

4. Or the Cardinals figured they'd stick him with it,
and since he wasn't expected to live that long, they could claim the issue died with him.

New pope, new direction, new church, that kind of thing

6. Possible, but I don't think
you could ever really know with the Vatican. The politics there make Rove look like a guileless child. It could be a faction that knew the story was about to gather steam and decided to throw Ratzi under the bus....for whatever reason.

Of course...you're right. He kept on and one shielding the dirty priests/bishops before he became pope and now still is doing it so therefore he himself is the same. Wish someone would come forward!

Pope Maladict knows where all the bodies are buried, which is why the cardinals gave him the big hat.

16. Cardinals didn't have much choice -- ALL the probable candidates
likely looked the other way --- and probably not a few of the electors had their own "histories" on the topic.

SICK at all levels. Glad I am nor have ever been in the thrall of that institution.

25. You would think...
...that if a vast conspiratorial selection would be picked by the
Illuminati and Opus Dei--they would have at least picked someone
who didn't look like Palpatine, the most ugly and evil character
from the Star Wars saga.

When Ratso was elected, I made the observation that he was chosen because he knows where all of the bodies are buried. How right I was.

24. As this sick pedophilia saga unfolds...
...it is becoming even more clear that Ratzinger found out who the
child molesters were---then he made sure those crimes remained silent
and went on to ensure that these priests were put into Church
positions where they would be alone and in positions of power with
vulnerable children.

Please people. Let's face facts. The current Pope furnished child molesters
with an endless supply of new victims, as well as cover for the crimes. Decades
of cover.

The only reason the cover was blown--was because the victims grew up and refused
to remain silent. Otherwise, their little pedophile ring would still be going
strong.

Memos confirm that Ratzinger has been doing this for years. All of the cardinals
and bishops know this. They know that Ratzinger is a proponent of child rape.

Normally, this type of behavior would be shunned and grounds for banishment. Not
in the Catholic Church. It's grounds for rising to the papacy. The entire
hierarchy is a giant nest of active pedophiles who cover for each other and want
to harm innocent children by raping them.

It's time for this revolting institution to come crumbling down. The entire hierarchy
is dirty. And where is someone--anyone--in the Catholic Church hierarchy--who can
come forward and put an end to this? Since this has been happening for decades, it's
likely that there are no decent men left at the top of this sickening organization.

27. I've been thinking along similar lines as the opening post.
Edited on Sat Apr-10-10 08:43 PM by breadandwine

Ratzinger was head of the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith for many years which made him the most knowledgeable person in the church regarding the scandals. All the abuse cases went to him from all over the world. And under his leadership in that post he imposed rules that put people who blabbed, including abuse victims, in danger of excommunication. In other words, he was the number one cover-up man for years. Then they pick him as pope. It sure sounds like they thought they could rely on him to keep everybody's skeletons in their closets.
