Brass balls or just no sense of shame? You decide.
The current SCOTUS includes Scalia, Thomas, Alito and Roberts. They are the most ACTIVIST Court in living memory and the most ideologically conservative in decades.

And, this morning, on national TV, little Jeffy Sessions threatens to FILIBUSTER the as-yet unnamed nominee to the SCOTUS if Obama's selection is too ideological and an activist because "the American people don't want that".

Seems to me that Mr. Session's party has made it abundantly clear that they don't give a rat's ass what the American people want. Further, if he wants to rid the SCOTUS of extreme activist ideologues, I'll gladly support this Republican's call for the impeachment of the four moral pygmies named above. That would be "bipartisanship" I could get into.

But, the fact that Sessions can actually spew such hypocritical horse shit without stuttering, blushing or barfing generated the question in my title.

I have my answer.

Yours?

5. Well, at least they haven't threatened to filibuster a non-Catholic
Yet...

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/geoffrey-r-stone/the-protestant-seat_b_533093.html
With the announcement of the retirement of Justice Stevens, the question has arisen: Should President Obama nominate a Protestant to succeed him? Of the remaining justices, six are Catholic and two are Jewish. If President Obama does not nominate a Protestant, this will be the first time in American history when there will not be a Protestant on the Court. How should we think about this?

6. I think it's a big mistake on his part to threaten ...
.. a filibuster before the nominee is announced. I hope his words come back to bite him.

7. To ignore and change precedent is about as activist as you can get.
Edited on Mon Apr-12-10 01:14 AM by Kablooie
The GOP will filibuster ANY candidate no matter who he is.
They have no sense of future or consequences at all.
They throw out common sense and respect for precedent.

They simply want to feel macho -- right -- NOW.
Period.

They grab every shred of power they can even if the only effect is to
annoy Democrats.

8. Allowing Senator Sessions to tell us...
... what the "American people" want is akin to allowing the local butcher tell us what PETA's after.

It's a given the GOP will filibuster any nominee who's not a corporate stooge. They know on which side their bread is buttered, after all.
