My 78 year old Mom...she's a piece of work.

Now I know where I get it from.

Little history.
We are in Florida.
I live in Central Florida and she lives near Tampa on the Gulf side.
She had open heart surgery (did you know that you can't get a stent if you are allergic to nickel, cobalt, or chromium? neither did we)
the first week of March, and while we worried for awhile, all of sudden she's bounced back strong.

How Strong?
This morning she's reading the St. Petersburg Times.

Mom: "I hate this guy"
Me: "Who?"
Mom: "Crist, he's an asshole for what he did to those teachers"
Me: "Mom, I keep telling you ALL Republicans are hand-jobs"
Mom: "That's right"
Me: "He's like his boy Jeb Bush"
Mom: "Their like the Kennedy's"
Me: "Mom, Jeb Bush is nothing like a Kennedy"
Mom: "I know, that's not what I mean, I mean they just keep on coming"
Me: "Well the Bush Crime family is nothing like the Kennedy's"
Mom: (Laughter)
Me: "The entire Bush clan is a bunch of criminals and money sucking parasites"
Mom: "Don't forget assholes too"

I love my Mom and I'm glad she's laughing and talking shit again.
If you got a Mom - give her a hug right now.
Not too tight however, it sucks to have your chest cut open.

My Mom kicks ass.

(edit-misspell)

1. :-) Your mom rocks!
Mine is 82, and a true blue Democratic steel magnolia! She's had breast cancer, stents, and many other little challenges, but she's still powering on like a little energizer bunny! Bridge, Mah-jongh, volunteering, travel... Nothing keeps her down! (tho the afternoon naps help a lot too!)
:hugs:

4. Laughing is good
One thing we had to do after surgery was make them cough. I found that wisecracks that made them laugh would initiate coughing so I never had to nag them.

I'm glad she's coming back. Just make sure she's taking those walks, too.

And Crist is an asshole. If she brings up the Kennedy dynasty again, tell her that after Patrick goes out of office in 2010, there won't be any of them left in office.

However, the assholes in that other family will just keep on coming. They're grooming that idiot child Prescott for office now.
