'Birther' Doc a No-Show at Campbell
'Birther' Doc a No-Show at Campbell
April 12, 2010
Military.com|by Bryant Jordan

An Army flight surgeon apparently is sticking to his vow not to deploy until he is satisfied that President Barack Obama is a "natural born" citizen.

Lt. Col. Terrence Lakin did not report for duty at Fort Campbell, Ky. as ordered today, and a spokesman for the post said it's not likely he will.

"The last report I got as of Friday is that he is not going to report to Fort Campbell," spokesman Maj. Patrick Seiber said. "That's from our division surgeon."

Lakin's failure to report essentially dares the Army to bring charges against him for being an unauthorized absence.

Lakin, who has been the chief of primary care at the Pentagon's Tricare health clinic, could not be reached this morning at his Maryland home. Margaret Hemenway, a spokeswoman for a group called the Patriotic American Foundation, which is supporting the 18-year officer, said the Army should not expect Lakin to report unless he sees an original birth certificate showing that Obama was born in Hawaii.

1. I am so tired of these teabagger stories that are posted here at DU.....
Seems like all we do is report on what one teabagger does here and there
on a daily basis, multiple times.

I thought the media had taken an unhealthy interest in them,
considering that there really aren't that many of them....
but seems like so many of us are so doing the same.
Why is that something to do?

The media helped grow them,
and we are only helping with
this magnification of these fools.

Bet if I went around with an anti-obama sign down my street,
my story would be posted at DU next day.

What's with that? Just seem odd of us.

6. It makes me not even want to come and read DU......
With headlines where I'm forced to read words like "Niggardly" and "Slavery" all over this website,
I barely even want to come here anymore. I'm still trying to figure out the end game on this.
Are we gonna obsess on the dumbass fools till November? Cause if so, we will be part of the problem.

I have no desire to discuss the issue, sense the threads promote teabaggers. Just my thoughts.

2. I sure hope they take him up on his 'dare,'
and bring charges for an unauthorized absence.

Didn't they do something similar to a mother who unable to find care for her child, COULDN'T report? Was she discharged?

8. I am interested in this - the guy is an officer with 18 years service-
and officers usually look after their own. It will be interesting to me to see what the Army's response is.

He would be eligible to retire with a pension and benefits at 20 years, but I doubt he would get anything if he were thrown out.

10. He's an O-4 in a critical specialty after 18 years? Give him a
General, and I won't have to pay the taxes to support him for the rest of his life.

11. This guy is a joke. If Obama invited him to the white house and showed him the
certificate in person he would still say he is lying. It makes no sense. They don't want to believe him.
