Sarah Palin Has Earned an Estimated $12 Million Since July

http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/sarah-palin-earned-estimated-12-million-july/story?id=10352437

By MATTHEW MOSK
Apr. 13, 2010

Pundits can debate the political costs and benefits of Sarah Palin's decision to step down as Alaska governor, but the monetary advantages of leaving her $125,000-a-year public service post are beyond dispute.

Since leaving office at the end of July 2009, the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee has brought in at least 100 times her old salary – a haul now estimated at more than $12 million -- through television and book deals and a heavy schedule of speaking appearances worth five and six figures.

That conservative estimate is based on publicly available records and news accounts. The actual number is probably much higher, but is hard to quantify because Palin does not publicize her earnings, and has managed to keep a lid on reliable figures for her earnings from a multi-year contract with Fox News and a second book deal with HarperCollins.

A Palin aide responding to questions from ABC News said the governor "is now a private citizen. As a result, her fees and earnings are private."

16. So sad
There are so many talented, gifted people in the world...who actually have something of value to offer...and yet we continue to reward shallow, crass, empty people who mesmerize us by waving bright, shiny objects in front of us as if we were simple children.

Mission accomplished indeed.

10. That's exactly right. She knew that McCain didn't have a chance.
The moment that idiot elevated her, she started marketing her ass.

She never intends to run for public office again. She'll fly into Iowa, get paid to speak, and sign a few books just to keep the MSM talking like she might.

I still chuckle when I read someone saying that.

edited to add: Yes, as a private citizen her fees and earnings are private, until she trys to run for office again. Also, maybe now she can pay her back taxes on her little cabin.

19. Quitterella of The North has finally figured out that her
future is not in holding political office. She won't be running again, since it puts too many restrictions on her money-earning. If revenues drop off, she may become a third-party candidate for President, but she doesn't actually want the job.

If she handles this right, she'll get five years or so of raking in the bucks and will have a nice big nest egg she can turn into the jet-setting lifestyle she so richly deserves. Working on the periphery of politics, she can make tons of money. So, that's what she'll do.

32. She'll blow it all eventually.
Mark my words.

Mike Tyson and Dennis Rodman were once categorized as "extremely wealthy" as well, and I'll put dollars to donuts she'll end up the same way sooner rather than later. Between her own greed, plus her surrounding "supporters", she'll blow it all.

In seven to ten years, expect to see her on "Celebrity Apprentice" or something equally demeaning, desperately trying to regain some tiny fraction of her long lost fame and fortune.

She is tailor made for the part.

BUT, in the meantime you have to give her props...quitting was a BRILLIANT move financially. Olbermann and the rest can label her "quitter" all they want, but in the meantime she can laugh all the way to the bank.
