discovering systematic sexual abuse of epic proportion and then calling you out for your inaction is not the same as:

Kristallnacht
Being forced into a ghetto
Being forced to wear a star on your sleeve
Having all your property confiscated
Having your children taken away
Being sent to a concentration camp
Being used for hideous medical experiments
Being gassed

To compare those who seek justice to the Nazis is unconscionable.

6. I was referring more to the treatment of GLBT people.

Like in Sierra Leone, where even their graves are upturned and their mortal remains desacrated (Jewish cemitary of Warshaw anyone?).

But indeed, let's throw in the ethnic holocausts as well. Africa as a continent is really going through a time of troubles. I guess all we can do is hoping for peace in our time?

7. I'm going to have to increase my awareness of the Sierra Leone situation

I'd heard about the horrible law they were trying to pass in Kenya, and of Mugabe's policies towards gays in Zimbabwe, but I hadn't known of the situation you speak of.

They are, of course, of equal weight with the Darfur genocide.

3. The upper reaches of the church supported Hitler because he was

anti communist and anti semetic, and probably helped many top Nazis escape after they lost the war.

They also supported the fascists in Italy and Spain for pretty much the same reasons.

and, later, when spokesdudes for the Vat were asked whether this was a reference to Vat mistakes in the pedophilia business, the spokesdudes said that, yes, the "looking inward and admitting mistakes" also applied to the Vat.

Geez, seems like EXAMINING and ADMITTING ought to be CLEAR. Doesn't cut it, Ratz.
