Sinking Fast: Sarah Palin And The Tea Bag Sag
Sinking Fast: Sarah Palin And The Tea Bag Sag
Filed under: Election, General — Mark @ 3:47 pm

In a new CNN/Opinion Research poll, the ephemeral nature of the Tea Party movement is once again revealed. When asked for their opinion of Tea Parties, respondents were decidedly unenthusiastic.

-------------------- April ---January
Strongly Support------12%-----15%
Moderately Support----15%-----20%
Moderately Oppose------6%------8%
Strongly Oppose-------21%-----11%
Don’t Know Enough-----45%-----45%

While the total numbers for support and opposition are tied at 27%, the support numbers have declined since January and those strongly opposed have doubled. A mere 4% reported having attended a Tea Party rally or meeting. And, although little attention is usually paid to the “Don’t Know” response, 45 is a pretty high figure. Nearly half the country has no opinion at all about the Tea Party.
................

The Tea Bag sag coincides with the plummeting popularity of the Tea Bag Hag, Sarah Palin. The CNN poll showed Palin’s favorability rating at 39% (55% unfavorable). 69% of respondents said that she is not qualified to be president. She came in third in preference rankings following Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney. And while Obama beats all three in head-to-head match-ups, Palin fares the worst losing 55% to 42%. This confirms the findings of a Fox News poll in January that had Obama over Palin 55/31.

1. Ha, Ha, the Don't Knows stayed the same despite saturated media advertising for them.
Somebody should have gone out and found out some more about the TP-ers what with all of the free advertising they were given.

3. I'm still worried about those numbers
After 2 years people don't know enough about Palin to make up their minds? Really?

People sure have their opinions about Tiger Woods or Octomom, though.

10. I dislike her intensely but find it unfortunate that sexist terms are employed - it devalues and
diminishes the merits of the criticisms against her.

5. They shot their wad way to early
They shot their wad on HCR and blew it.

They needed to put forth their energies this summer rather than last summer.

As activist go, they're more naive than the 60's radicals.

6. Twelve Million reason$ Palin could care less
Payoff for Palin is spring boarding from her premature departure from Alaskan Governorship and unsuccessful VP run into big money. Sarah could care less that the Tea Party is a simmering piss pot of malcontents and Obama haters which may spin off into a terminal Tasmanian Devil of misdirected rage. She is in the money now and will ride the gravy train where ever it takes her. Palin loves the spotlight and as long as she can find publicity (and $) she's going to be in front a camera spewing platitudes.

7. "The Tea Bag Hag," I LOVE it, and will be using it on occasion!
I also agree with others here, that it would be unwise to dismiss that movement out of hand, or even to refuse to engage "some" in dialog.

9. bless Jim Leher and all the people at Newshour...
No mention of the tea party or sara-bara-cuda tonight. Instead they delivered real news. NBC couldn't resist giving her a spot. That's why The Learning Channel got fooled into investing in her--they believed the hype spun by cable and network news.
