I remember the good old days
… when we used to have a school system that worked

... when politicians would occasionally tell the truth

… when federal and state governments took care of the poor and elderly

… when teachers were actually admired

… when libraries were fully funded

… when the US Treasury told the truth

… when local governments would hire cops and firemen

… when the federal government actually held people accountable for their actions

… when the federal government actually was accountable for their actions

… when the military budget was less than a trillion dollars a year

… when the federal government used to take care of federal bridges and roads

… when we used to have real reporting in war zones

… when banks used to loan money to people

Oh well. . . .

4. Well I can't think of a time when it all happened at once, but
there were at least some bright spots here and there.
Oddly, one of the people I hated most in my life, Richard Nixon, would be a flaming liberal these days.

3.  . . . when clothing, electronics, food, household goods, paper products,
furniture, medicines and everything else was manufactured within our borders and provided good-paying jobs.
