Check out this insane facebook status update....
"President Obama has decided that there will no longer be a "National Day of Prayer" held in May. He doesn't want to offend anybody. Where was his concern about offending Christians last January when he allowed the Muslims to hold a day of prayer on the capitol grounds. As a Christian American "I am offended." I...f you agree copy and paste no matter what religion you are, this country was built on Freedom!"

:eyes:

Words fail me.

They won't "believe" any evidence.

10. Even when President Obama declares National Prayer Day
I expect them to characterize it as Obama's National MUSLIM Prayer Day . . .

5. Thank you!!
I had a friend that posted that on their page and I didn't pay much attention, as its a work friend and I don't want to stir the pot more than I already have here. Anyways, I just posted back on their comment with a simple, "This is false" (and then referenced your Snopes link). Thanks again for the help! :)

4. The truth is, of course, the exact opposite.

President Intends to Recognize Nat'l Day of Prayer, Despite Lawsuit

If a federal judge's ruling is allowed to stand, this year's National Day of Prayer could be the nation's last. U.S. District Judge Barbara Crabb issued a ruling on Thursday that says the federal proclamation violates the constitutional ban on government-backed prayer.

...

But according to a Tweet by the White House on Thursday, "As he did last year, President Obama intends to recognize a National Day of Prayer." This year that day is set for May 6.

12. Frankly, I'm more offended that the White House would state they
will ignore a ruling (assuming it stands) by a federal court judge.

11. aren't these two different things?
Allowing a Muslim group to pray on capitol grounds and supporting a National Day of Prayer sound like 2 different things to me.

So this "Christian" is offended that the Muslims were allowed to pray? Was he ever denied that right? If so - he is entitled to be offended. I somehow think that is not the case.

20. I did read it - my point was that the "offense" was not based in reality
there is no reason to be offended - these are not the same thing - even if they did occur (and I realize they did not)

There is just no logic in the claim of being offended.

It has nothing to do with the truth. Never has, never will.

17. as an atheist, I'm perpetually amused at people squabbling over who gets to pray where & when
as if any of it mattered in the slightest.

yeah, "god" really cares about all that. if IT did, wouldn't it send lightning bolts or smite the offenders? if people want to talk to invisible friends in the sky (the way my schizophrenic relative talks to the invisible voices in his head), why do they need a "special day" "recognized" for it? or are they not that sure of themselves and what they "believe"? they need the support of the group and the "official recognition" to reassure themselves that, yes, this is "valid"? with people suffering and hungry in the world, who gives a rat's ass whether "christians" are "offended" because "there will no longer be a National Day of Prayer"?

the country was "built on freedom," yes, so who's limiting ms. whiney-pants me-of-little-faith's freedom to talk to herself?

:nopity:

22. Just called bs to a cousin on fb...
who has this same crap as her status. I commented that her post is completely false and directed her to the snopes link. I'm assuming my comment will be immediately deleted! She graduated from the same university as I did (several years later!!!) and I also commented that as an alum I would have hoped she had one class while obtaining her poli-sci degree that taught her to source/verify information passed on through email/on the internet before propogating it as fact!
