Trapeze artist falls, lands on children at circus
BOSTON -- A trapeze artist fell and landed on two children during a climatic performance at the Big Apple Circus in Boston Thursday night.

The accident involved the Aniskin Troupe's flying trapeze act, which was created for a Russian circus in 1996.

Oleg Aniskin, the troupe's founder, was swinging by his knees on the catch bar as Aleksandr Sotov performed the troupe's most dangerous trick -- a triple somersault. Aniskin tried to catch him, but lost his grip.

Sotov fell hard to a safety net below. He bounced right out of the ring, and into the audience, landing on two kids: A 10-year-old girl, and her little brother, 6.

No one was seriously hurt.

2. I'm sure Sotov, the trapeze artist, did not bounce as high
as depicted by Pee Wee Herman. But it's still funny as hell!

3. No one was seriously hurt. They should start the article this way, sensationalists!
No one was seriously hurt when a trapeze artist fell and landed on two children during a climatic performance at the Big Apple Circus in Boston Thursday night.

Why can't they write this way? People would still read it. And it would demonstrate that safety measures had been taken to prevent injury, even though this was a terrible thing.

4. amen, I would like a little realism in the way they report things.
I gave up reading newspapers when I noticed that the first three paragraphs were identical, just restating the same headline and then you had to read down to the last paragraph to find the real story.

5. That's modern journalism for ya!
The first time, they tell ya what they're gonna tell ya. Next, they just tell ya. Then, they tell ya what they just told ya. Short attention spans require a special methodology.

If trapeze artists and/or circus performers aren't subject to strict regulation and/or banning now, someone in the legislature or 'concerned community' will suggest it.

10. My wife and daughter went to Big Apple Circus a few years ago and were terrified.
They had front-row seats, and said the horses got so close to them, that they were afraid they would get kicked in the head as they rode by.

Also, the horses kicked-up so much dirt that it ruined everyone's food in the first three rows, and got in their eyes.

11. With front row seats what exactly did they expect?
I'm sure they could have traded seats with someone who would have been thrilled at being so close.
