Things are being said at this minute on TV that have never been said before
Edited on Sat Apr-17-10 02:24 PM by ThomWV
Barry Lynn is live on BookTV (Cspan) and is giving a narrative and explanation for the state of this country that is incredible. It is stunning in its clairity as well as how frightening it is. Its live right now, but it will be replayed during the weekend - do not miss it.

On Edit - his argument is against the concentration of private and public power, corporatism and authoritarianism, and us as mere servants to a system gone awry.

2. Damn you! MY EYES! AAUUGHH!
I switched on CSPAN, and here in CT they are airing the Tea Bagger rally. I was treated to Michelle Bachmann (R - Batshit) explaining how the three most beautiful letters in our language are "U S A." Followed by graham crackers and milk, then everyone took a twenty minute nap on the towel they'd brought from home.

6. My mother listened to the Met every Saturday. She loved it.
I remember hearing "Girl of the Golden West" while bedridden with pneumonia...

7. I don't usually listen to the Met, not much of an opera fan,
but it followed Mendelsohn Violin Concerto!

But hey, these are good comebacks, because she really is batshit crazy.

8. Yes - excellent presentation
Especially liked how he pointed out that this is non-partisan in that both parties are part of this.

They said it would be replayed so viewers may want to check the C-Span 2 schedule.

At 49:30 during the Q/A:

Q: What's the future?

Lynn: "...at the present trajectory, I have a couple kids at home and they will spend their lives on their knees. They will spend their lives serving other people and they won't have much recourse to law to protect them."

18. Ahh, thanks. It looks like it will be on again at around 4:30am Sunday.
And by a weird coincidence I just found out that I have to drive south in the morning at about 5:00am.

Thanks, maybe I'll catch it in the morning.

21. Recommended this morning at a Food Policy conference
Just this morning Cornered was recommended by one of the speakers at a Yale Law School Conference on Food Policy (in a workshop that focused on anti-trust policy). I jotted down the title in the program book, came home, happened to turn on BookTV and there was Barry Lynn talking about Cornered. It's now at the top of my books-to-buy list.

22. Being re-aired at midnight through 5 a.m. eastern on Sunday morning.
2010 Annapolis Book Festival

This is the only re-airing I see scheduled but would assume it will be available later on YouTube or the website. Looks like Barry Lynn may be the last speaker.

SPEND THEIR LIVES SERVING OTHER PEOPLE

Doesn't it seem like working life in America is regressing to middle aged feudalism or something equally unfair? America seems like it's being run by adult bullies that beat you up for your lunch money every day and keep your life in a constant state of fear and loathing for your very survival?
