Just curious...

Is it just me???

I have lost up to a couple valuable hours of my life this week alone on the phone dealing with corporations trying to pay off bills and/or generally deal with them...either they change the logon questions / procedure and I'm locked out (Bk. of America; I know, I know - I "moved MY money," but I haven't been able to convince the rest of my family yet, due to the hassle); they cut off service (TracPhone) because of non-use, despite a 7.20 minute balance -- leaving me without a phone for 3-5 days while they mail out a new "sim card"; or they simply change my password or logon (Office Depot)-- can no longer log on with same info I've been using for past 6 months.

So, when the Office Depot lady asked me if there was a "reason" I was closing my account with them....I was simply speechless.

I am trying to rid myself of as many corporate entanglements as possible, to save my sanity. I am trying to deal only with local businesses, including buying beef and lamb from my neighbors and friends; raising my own layer hens; growing my own fruits and vegetables; heating with wood. It's like back to the 1970s - my most formative decade.

Not out of virtue, just out of desperation.

I don't know. Could just be me in part. But, it's just the dealing with them, their practices, their remoteness, their whims.

cancelled my DSL and switched phone companies. When I call in Feb. the nice man said I was all paid up. Got a bill the next month for $16. called and they said disregard it. Then get a bill $116. cancellation fee. Paid that one thinking it was the final bill. Then get a late notice with threats to turn it over to a collection company for the $16.. What the f#@k I mail that. Now I get a bill for -$12. that comes with a pay envelope? So, I'm thinking of sending that one back asking why I have not got the $12 yet and to please send it as it is past due so they can avoid legal fees for small claims court.

The phone companies are the worst. I've had Verizon drop my call numerous time. I mean - a phone company? I told the guy last night I was about to slit my wrists! I bet that threw him!

I could type for hours about how many problems I had with that company. I never got a refund of the $60 they owed me and I just finally canceled my service after they wore me down. I think I spent over three and a half hours on "hold" over several days. They won.

are all these jobs off-shored? It kind of hurts, when I'm unemployed.
