Religious Right group tells followers to boycott the 2010 elections
Edited on Wed Apr-21-10 02:09 PM by ck4829
Social conservatives – abortion foes, gay marriage opponents, transgender rights critics – may sit out the 2010 election, a Massachusetts hard-line conservative activist said Tuesday, arguing that no statewide candidates for office have championed their views.

Brian Camenker, executive director of MassResistance, which pointedly opposes gay and transgender rights, said he hopes social conservatives punish the Republican Party by staying home in November, and he singled out Republican gubernatorial nominee Charles Baker as “tone deaf” on social issues.

“We’re certainly going to be telling people to sit out this race,” Camenker said. “The Republican Party needs to be taught a lesson that they can’t consciously take social conservatives for granted.”

4. Brian Camenker is Jewish, so it's not a *chrisTian* Right group, per se.
But it *is* listed with The SPLC as a hate group.

5. Note that the transgressions for which they want to punish their party
are all of the "you didn't persecute them enough" variety.

I often wish there was a hell so that these "people" could be dumped there.

As it is, I think the left may just have to start buying guns and preparing to go to war with these champions of evil.

12. Too bad it's limited to Mass, where they don't have that huge
an effect on elections. If only that sentiment would spread!

The religious reich has been played for suckers for years by a GOP that really has no stake in overturning abortion rights completely, since that would cause a great deal of trouble for business as their cheaper workers were forced to take lengthy sick time for babies they never wanted.

I've wondered for a very long time how long it will take for all those church people to realize they've been played for decades and either sit on their hands on election day or form their own bible party.

So far, the GOP has been able to get things like meaningless antigay petitions onto state ballots to get out the religious crazy vote. The religious crazies are showing signs of getting wise to that, too.

Maybe it's going to spread beyond the Mass. border. I sincerely hope so. The religious nuts have poisoned this country's politics for far too long as it is.

16. Anyone who wants to take away someone's rights shouldn't be allowed to participate in the debate.
