Teen in NY runs down eldery woman, says she didn't feel as bad since she was old
http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/oh_not_so_Xyy6vktga2njoJwRYJwC1O

I just heard about this story during the replay of the Howard Stern show, they played the audio of this girl going hysterical when she was taken into a police car (the audio & video are in link above), apparently when she was first arrested she said she didn't feel so bad she ran over a woman because she was old (her victim was only 69 years old, that's not exactly old in this day in age BTW).....

How cold can some people be..

Edited on Thu Apr-22-10 01:12 PM by Kievan Rus
Selfish, cold, evil and completely emotionless.

Is it just me, or young people that are like this are more common these days. Are they socialized to be that cold and emotionless, or are they born psychopaths like Timothy McVeigh was?

6. Actually, when the one girl in the MA. case was coming out of court
she showed ZERO emotion, much like a hardened criminal, she was just stone faced & looked really angry...I forget her name, but i know it started with a V...

that most of the population is getting meaner by the day, so why should teens be any different?

3. i have dealt with teens like this
they may not be "technically" sociopaths, but man do they sound like them

i have dealt with ones that literally show NO empathy towards others. you really can;'t believe it, until you are face to face w. somebody who expresses no empathy whatsoever towards fellow human beings

18. Textbook definition of a Republican....
Seriously though, I think that many right wingers have a sort modified psychopathology which allows them to show some empathy for some family members and friends while exhibiting the full array of behavior toward every other living thing.

19. ime, this has ZERO to do with repubs vs. dems
and i hate politicizing crap like this.

in fact, BY politicizing this stuff, imo, you demonstrate the very pathology you are railing against. you are demonizing the other, vs. trying to understand them, it's an easy way to feel morally superior and discount them as human beings, similar to what we do in wartime towards the enemy. whether in iraq, or vietnam

like i said, i've dealt with these assmunches and i've seen zero evidence that they are more likely to lean politically one way vs. the other

28. Teens like that are apolitical, and in general...feverishly anti-intellectual
Edited on Thu Apr-22-10 04:36 PM by Kievan Rus
Often, sociopathic, selfish young people like what paulsby describes often couldn't care less about politics; or, to put it more bluntly, often couldn't care less about what happens in their little high school bubble. I was in high school when 9/11 happened, and it was all too obvious that the "in crowd" and "mean girl" types couldn't have cared less about what was going on at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

Paulsby is absolutely correct. This has nothing to do with politics. High school "in crowd" and "mean girl" types are antagonistic towards pretty much anybody with an intellectual interest, regardless of their political, religious or social viewpoints.

29. they are almost nihlist or anarchist in this regards
not they necessarily have thought about it seriously in regards to political theory

they want to be

1) left alone
2) be able to do whatever the fuck they want
3) face no consequences for doing so
4) but if THEY are victimized, they want swift justice

they see no contradiction vis a vis #4 either

ah, youth...

9. Only 69? My aunt died at 99.
So what's 30 more years at that age anyway? :sarcasm:

More bits of the article. What a piece of work this bimbo is:

Gerdes, of Freeport, claimed to once be a model. And she was so self-absorbed in the hours after the wreck that she told cops interviewing her she wants "to see a newspaper of the news, to see what I look like."

Just moments after the crash on the tree-lined Hempstead block, the teen showed more concern about being late for a court date than she did for the woman whose broken body was crumpled on the ground, according to court documents.

Gerdes, who cops said was high on the powerful painkiller OxyContin, stepped from the wrecked vehicle and demanded that that a passer-by help her get to the courthouse.

"I'm late for court. You have to take me to court!" she exclaimed, according to a criminal complaint. She was due to appear for allegedly stealing her mom's jewelry, even though she was driving in the opposite direction of the Nassau County courthouse in Mineola.

Her passenger and boss, Brian Steele Jr. -- who appeared to be oblivious to the carnage -- bellowed at her that she wrecked his car two weeks ago and lamented that "he has to pay for this now."

:wtf:

Edited on Thu Apr-22-10 02:06 PM by Maru Kitteh
" Steele's father said the teen worked as a "bookkeeper" at his son's roofing firm, even though her pals said she had not yet graduated from Freeport HS.

Steele's father, Brian Steele Sr., said his son created a job for Gerdes because they were dating. "Because he wanted to (sleep with) her, he offered her a job," the elder Steele said.

Jamie Lee, 19, a friend of Gerdes, said the "whole situation" surrounding the $20-an-hour job "was weird."

The younger Steele could not be reached for comment."

because he wasn't going fast enough."

Stoned on Oxycontin, impatient, and incredibly self-absorbed. Yeah, I've known a few teens like her, both when I was one and since.

Yes, you shouldn't drive while intoxicated, yes you should show some empathy for your fellow human beings, but for God's sake people, just slow the fuck down. I'm willing to bet you that this would never have happened, Oxycontin or no Oxycontin, if she would have just slowed down. People that drive very fast like this are usually very self-absorbed people. They put their own impatience over the safety of others.

Every time I see somebody act like her behind the wheel, I know that it's only a matter of time before it comes back to bite them in the ass. Only problem is, they often take somebody else down with them. And the real kicker is, whenever they repair their car after the inevitable accident or get their license back after it was suspended or complete their traffic classes or whatever, they usually go back to driving the same exact way.

Idiots.

I would be fine with her doing a few decades in the pokey.

FWIW, I would be very surprised if she was not high on something besides oxycontin. I took oxycontin for back pain before and after my surgery, and it never made me anywhere near that stupid. The most animated thing I ever did was change the channel.
