N.J. watchdog group recommends stricter pay-to-play laws, disclosure of public contracts

TRENTON -- A state watchdog agency wants to close pay-to-play loopholes and force lobbyists with public contracts to disclose them.
The Election Law Enforcement Commission proposed those ideas and five others to the Legislature in its annual report.
"We always have recommendations in the annual report, but this year I decided that we should prioritize some of them and try to be a little more aggressive with promoting our ideas for reform," said Jeffrey Brindle, the agency’s executive director. "We will get this information to the Legislature and to the governor’s office, and hopefully there will be an interest
