Goldman Sachs Comes To Washington



Goldman Sachs is coming to Washington Tuesday.


Some of the financial titan’s current and former brass will testify in front of the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations in a hearing entitled “Wall Street and the Financial Crisis: The Role of Investment Banks.”


The role of Goldman has arguably never been under more scrutiny than over the past few weeks. The Securities and Exchange Commission sued the investment bank for allegedly defrauding customers by selling financial instruments comprised of risky loans that were created by a hedge fund tycoon who bet on their failure.


Furthermore, POLITICO reported this week that Goldman’s political action committee donated nearly $300,000 to Republican and Democratic lawmakers in March alone – a sum that far surpasses most other financial institutions’ giving all year.
