Tea Party run by Mad Hatters!!!! (Let's take back the language.)
Edited on Fri Apr-23-10 01:04 PM by skip fox
As we know, those who frame the debate are more likely to win.

Calling organizers of Tea Party "Mad Hatters" is a minor thing, not the entire framing, it is the type of may which might give people pause (besides giving them a little laugh, and being accurate).

1. Agreed. Put Tea-baggers Up Against Alice In Wonderland
Agreed. it's one thing for right-wing chest-thumpers to try to claim that they're representing the Sons of Liberty to a credulous, ill-educated, solemn-faced corporate media. It's something else entirely when it dawns on part of the public that the 'Tea Party' leaders have more in common with the Red Queen, the March Hare, and the Mad Hatter than they do with the likes of Tom Paine and James Madison.

Dick Armey, meet your nemesis, a charming young Victorian-era English girl named Alice.

Maybe it would inspire at least a few more people to discover, just like Alice did, that the Tea Parties' leadership is--just a pack of cards.

:tinfoilhat:

:dem:

:patriot:

2. "Mad Hatters" depicts them (via the Lewis Carroll reference) as
crazily obsessed, cartoonish, frantic, and humanly blind.

batshit crazy. Some of them probably don't read judging from their signs so they may be unfamiliar with Alice in Wonderland unless they made it to a movie theater recently.

8. You have a point. But it's not for their consumption, it's for public provocation.

9. Someone should do a photoshop of an old Alice in Wonderland poster
with the Mad Hatter jabbering on about nonsense with his 1/2 cup of tea spilling out of his halved mug with Palin's face over the crazy rabbit's and Alice sitting back in shock, wondering what madness is this (what adulthood? what empty political blather?) before her.

10. Photoshop of Palin as the Mad Hatter needed.

Let's change the terms of political debate. I can imagine some of these idiots proudly wearing a "Mad Hatter" label (as some did the "Tea Bagger" label), but they'll look stupid in ways we can talk abouyt publically.

14. I've not seen the movie, but have read the book. And in the book
the Mad Hatter has no wisdom or enduring charm other than as an example of a wacko.
