Pennsylvania State Legislator Accuses Opponent of Not Being Gay

Inflammatory accusations involving sexual orientation have been tossed around in a contentious Pennsylvania legislative race, but not the kind that usually are leveled. In the contest to win the Democratic primary for the gay-friendly 182nd state House district, incumbent Babette Josephs has accused her rival, Gregg Kravitz, of being a heterosexual, following his numerous claims that he swings both ways.

Josephs insists Kravitz has been pretending to be bisexual in an attempt to pander to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender voters. “This guy’s a gem,” she told The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Kravitz denies he’s been lying about his bisexuality, saying Josephs’ attacks will make it more difficult for “members of the LGBT community to be comfortable with themselves.”

Mark Segal, publisher of the Philadelphia Gay News, says the debate shows just how far the nation has come in accepting homosexuality. “We’ve hit a new high point when candidates are accused of pretending to be gay to win a seat,” Segal said.

3. and I grew up in Erie County, PA in the 60's when there was literally no such thing as one single
openly gay person = not one who would not deny it.

A liberal was someone who believed that gay people should be locked up in mental hospitals as opposed to locked up in prison.
