I've been thinking about this short couple of graphs from Raj Patel's "The Value of Nothing" all day......:

"Without cash in a market society, you're free to do nothing, to have very little and to die young. In other words, under capitalism, money is the right to have rights."

Genial !!!!

1. Heh.. I'm living it right now..
No money, no transportation, no medical care and the only reason I have a roof over my head is because of family helping me out.

Capitalism sucks if you've lost your capital or never had any to start with.

2. And money is speech too.

In Capitalism: A Love Story, that economist talking about how capitalism and democracy are touted as one in the same, and how it is bullshit. The more money you have the more impact you have. That is not democracy.

Money is money, freedom is freedom and rarely do the twain really meet.

5. This is something Ive been thinking about a lot lately
For example, the United States didn't have a debate on whether health care was a right, but only if its a right to purchase it. Recieving health care thereafter depends entirely on one's ability to make the co-pays too.

Definitely, in the US, the concept of a "right" to a good or a service is so foreign that it cannot so much as be debated in the midst of a disaster associated with a service.
