I am more than half way through it and WOW! I wish the nation was forced to read this and then the Republicans would look even worse than they do now...But for some reason I think the Republicans are going to succeed in turning the nation against financial reform...Or at least against the Democrats with this obvious lie that the reform proposed is a bank bailout. After all this is the same nation that freaked out over DEATH PANELS!
None of it comes as an especially big surprise. It was obvious that the housing market was a house of cards and that the slicing and dicing of mortgages was basically a combination of fraud and economic insanity.
It makes today's hearings starring Goldman execs a bit more interesting.
It is yet to be seen if Democrats have the guts to push through reform. Like health care, whatever is enacted will likely not be close to strong enough.
