1. You left out an option....
"Continue giving money to Arizona, a Jim Crow state that hasn't improved on that record in 20 years, where signing the Jim Crow law gained Brewer 11 points of the white vote."

I suspect Goldman would push that bet hard to its customers.

3. That won't turn Arizona blue
Which is why it's not an option. Get with the program! :D

Can't cut off the good Dems there.

4. Trigger several faults and sink it so deep the hole fills with water...
There are enough racist in Arizona, apparently, to make sure that the state remains in Nazi hands.

9. It was a silly poll. The state stays the colors that planetary formation gave it...
unless all the Democrats in the state get busy and have 7 children each so in the next generation it will be swing Democratic. The majority in the state seem to like their governments emulation of Germany circa 1932.

and cultural concept.

Blue is about numbers, baby, numbers.

17. If they are in that big a number then they either voted for the GOP...
Edited on Tue Apr-27-10 05:05 PM by Ozymanithrax
or just didn't vote.

http://www.azsos.gov/releases/2006/pressrelease08.htm
AS of March 1, 2006, there were 1,042,420 registered Republicans and 890,861 Registered Democrats. If you have newer numbers, that my show a shift, but a hundred thousand votes seems to be able to easily keep the state in Right Wing hands.

Now there are 1,119,135 Hispanics in Arizona. (http://phoenix.about.com/cs/living/a/census01_3.htm) Clearly, even the Hispanic Republians are pissed at the governor. (http://www.fox11az.com/home/related/Statement-from--91948419.html). The question, of course, is are they pissed of enough to swing in a big way to the Democrats?
Statement from Arizona Hispanic Republicans
That said, and even though we are taking a stance against Jan Brewer and Russell Pearce’s law, we are ultimately holding President Obama accountable.

Apparantly, they seem to think that it is Obama's fault that their elected leadership are channeling Goebels. According to those bozos it isn't the GOP, Republicans believe in truth, justice, and the American way. It is Obama goose stepping this law into existance.

I was a report elsewhere at DU, no links, that Hispanics are changing their registration. If that is true, then it might change the state, because form everything I've seen, the Anglo side of the staets loves what is done in their name.

19. The AZ Democratic party did a lousy job of Get Out the Vote.
Saracat has been trying to tell you guys that. The state Democratic party needs more money and organization. That's why I think we should send $$$ and "freedom riders" down there to make sure Latinos get to vote.

26. 2008 was a bad year for Arizona Democrats with John McCain at the head of the tecket...
Edited on Tue Apr-27-10 08:07 PM by Ozymanithrax
But they are still well outnumbered. It is hard for a GOTV campaign to overcome 100,000 votes, though they might be able to do better in some areas. I don't no Arizona's political makeup.

7. We're not too far
My own district barely went to McCain by 1 or 2 percent and this is his home state and former district of J.D. Hayworth.

I'm sure Attorney General Terry Goddard who is running for Governor is licking his chops at facing Brewer who currently leads a crowded Republican field at 26%.

22. Because most people yelling about a boycott are bitching incessantly and
doing nothing constructive. I am for a constructive boycott: ie, find the place where you'd hurt the Republican voters the most. Boycotting Arizona entirely means that lots of Latino workers will be hurt. Look for something that just hurts the GOP.
