1) Tea party/Racism Like it or not, the tea party movement has done a great job of keeping people politically aware. It keeps the rest of us in tune with the hatred and fear of the Republican party. It's something that will keep many of us fired up to vote. Racism against the blacks and Latinos may backfire much more than anyone might expect.
2) Stimulus/HCR/Regulation Reform vs. "Party of No" While many of the bills that have passed have been less than perfect, they are still representative of a party that is trying to get something done - and something positive; not expensive illegal wars. It's much easier to vote for a party that is working for America than one that is trying to block everything.
3) George Bush vs. Barack Obama It's only been two years since Bush, and while many will try to blame Obama, it will be hard for the rest to forget the eight years previous to his Presidency.
4) New Voters(2008) Voter registration in 2008 was off the charts with new Democratic voters. Racism, and anger towards a President that many still like, will be more than enough to get many to the polls.
5) Economy Hard to predict just yet, but if Joe Biden is correct and we see 300K-400K new jobs a month, it's possible that optimism about the economy will be at a ten year high. Many happy to give the Democrats credit will vote, or many who may have voted against the Democrats may be content enough to stay home.
1) Tim Kaine Nice guy, but no Howard Dean. He has plenty of ammunition to use, yet we almost never see or hear from him.
2) Jobs/Deficit IMO, the administration has done a poor job of putting the blame on the previous administration. Instead, many are putting the blame on them; some deserved.
3) Media Fox News and Right-wing talk radio are everywhere. The left has 3 1/2 shows on MSNBC, Jon Stewart, and the Colbert Report. Lies and misinformation work with a large majority of this country.
4) History The party in power ALWAYS does poorly in these mid-term elections.
5) Ignorance and Stupidity Listen to Washington Journal every morning and you'll see what I mean.
Please disagree.
