Arizona: More evidence that CONSERVATIVES are leading us to COMMUNISM?
Edited on Thu Apr-29-10 08:39 PM by bondwooley
Conservatives are calling liberals Communists - but shouldn't it be the other way around?

From the new Lester & Charlie poll:

Recently, the Republican-controlled Legislature in Arizona passed tough new anti-immigration laws that require everybody to carry their papers so they can prove their legal status to authorities at any given time.

Hmm. It seems to us that the conservatives are trying to make America more and more like the old Soviet Union!

Have they been calling THE REST OF US Communists just to throw us off the scent? (And is that why Sarah Palin has been studying Russia from her front porch?!)

How long has this been going on? How far gone are we? What are the signs?

You've got to admit that, since the Bush Administration (and maybe since the end of the Cold War), America has taken a lot of Soviet-like turns, from courts picking the president to invading Afghanistan.

Is there something to this?

Communists were left wing totalitarians.

There are differences.

8. Communism didn't have the monopoly on tyranny
Plenty of right wing dictatorships imposed strict controls on civil life, including demanding citizen ID's

Mussolini, Hitler, Pinochet, the Shah of Iran, Marcos of the Philippines....

A dictator is a dictator, no matter where he comes from. And in this case, its a she-dictator -

9. They are leading us to fascism.
Republicans want us to live in a police state. Just look at all the excuses they use to gain more power; war on drugs, war on terror and now war on immigration. Each time they play on the fears of the ignorant so they can obtain more power.

11. Playing on the fears of the ignorant ...
... does seem to be the M.O. of the conservatives. Actually, it's pretty much how any group comes into power. And that's the problem with the Dems in terms of elections (in general) - they aren't willing to play that game.

12. The law in AZ has nothing to do with Communism.
Edited on Thu Apr-29-10 09:51 PM by Kitty Herder
Communism is an economic system. Ideally, it's supposed to transcend national borders anyway, which would make this law completely moot, wouldn't it?

14. I totally agree ...
... that Communism is an economic policy, but having lived in the Soviet Union (when it was the Soviet Union) I can assure you that that it's an economic system that was corrupted by philosophy. Not sure what that has to do with anything in this post, but that's my opinion :-)

15. This is a real newbie question ...
... but how is it that people can add emoticons to other people's posts?

I'm not a tech idiot but I can't figure this one out.

By the way, thanks to those folks who have added them to my posts!

... I've had such a strange day that my radar is off, and therefore my instinct is to assume that you're making fun of me; but I'll try to move past that and take you at your word.
