I wonder what it's like to be a RWer and be wrong about absolutely everything:
Drill, baby, drill.: Seemed like a 'good idea' at the time...what could possibly go wrong?

Privatize Social Security: The Markets can only go up

Segregation now and forever: Well, even if that 'shit' passes, ain't no way no black person will EVER be President of the Yoo Ess Ay.

WMD's in Iraq: Bunker-fulls, right?

W. may not be brilliant, but he'll surround himself with bright people to make up the difference: And wotta job they all did! Heckuva job!

Watergate is nothing but a third-rate burglary: It was so bad that they had to fire and then pardon Nixon in order for the REAL stuff not to come out.

Iran-Contra is not a scandal - it was patriotic Americans like Ollie North and President Reagan just doing their jobs: violated more law than you could shake a stick at, BUT they couldn't come clean b/c they'd made the deal to release the hostages AFTER Carter's Presidency ended.

George H.W. Bush doesn't remember where he was on 11/22/63 because he was just so busy that one day just bled into the next: who was that in the picture standing in front of the TSBD?

the list goes on and on...

1. It's blissful. They're still convinced they're RIGHT about absolutely everything,
regardless of the fact.

4. Nope...
sorry...they get NO vindication for eventual correctness...they're doomed to wander in the land of what-if's and maybe so, but's...and the encroaching numbers of people of color, young folk who don't hate like they do, and the rising tide of reality are a real problem for them.

24. And they've already lost the battles
Racism, while experiencing one more ugly resurgence will be over in a generation or two. Homophobia, same. Misogyny will take a little longer but eventually, it too will end by attrition. In the not too distant future, mega churches will stand empty as a memorial to a second resurgence of the Pharisees. The children of today and even more so, the grandchildren of tomorrow will end their bigotry, and on some level, I think they know it and it infuriates them.

6. That's why Faux and RW hate radio have created an alternate reality for them
It makes them feel better about being wrong.

I'm not sure even Faux thought their viewers would actually adopt the alternate reality. Bonus for them and the GOP machine that runs things.

Being wrong about everything is, to them, like being a fish in water.

18. For a brain to function it needs at least 2 cells and the ability to transfer information...
I find conservatives to be more line amoebas, one celled organisms that are only stimulated by light and temperature. Great post!

22. I was raised by my republican father and his amoral wife
Then, when I divorced them, I lived with my Dixiecrat grandparents. I lack the racism gene or the republican selfishness gene. I'm a bleeding heart liberal and I've always wondered why the politics of my upbringing didn't take. My grandparents were also Southern Baptist and even that didn't take.

All that just seemed and seems selfish and misogynistic. I truly loved my grandparents (don't ask me about my father and stepmonster) and yet, their values did not become my values. My grandfather was involved with the KKK long before I came along and the first time he said nigger in front of me was the last time he said it. I think back to the fact that I was thirteen at the time and really had no where else to go and yet, I spoke my mind. I often wonder where this steel spine of mine came from but it was clearly there from an early age.
