Oil spills, dawn and triclosan = anger

I am angry at so many levels and so many things right now... especially at corporations that exploit and abuse at the expense of the environment and people's well being and what is morally right. Dawn detergent is not good for cleaning wildlife and no one should make money from another's loss.

I want us all to wake up and realize the immense power we have en masse to boycott, spend wisely and not continue to be told what we want, where we want it and how we want it by corporate interests.

1. I always use collodial silver and laetrile when I clean wildlife.
Also, homeopathy.

17. The first environmental advertising scandal dealt with laundry
soap, and you should read up on Axion and their pitch man, Arthur Godfrey, who was one of America's most trusted voices. He was pissed off royally, and it was part of what got the ball rolling. Because it is not being 'angry at dish soap' but angry at lies and deception on the part of the makers of the soap. Your attempted snark makes your knowledge look pretty shallow. Anyone in marketing, advertising, soap or showbiz could hip you to it.

19. Oh, yes, the great Axion Scandal.
The day America lost its innocence.

Because this thread wasn't already silly enough.

9. Not all formulations of Dawn
...contain triclosan - just the "anti-bacterial" version.

However, I'm fairly sure that any dish-liquid will do when it comes to cleaning oil-soaked critters. The reason Dawn is noted is because the company sent cases of the stuff to clean-up crews after the Exxon-Valdez spill.

In the end, it's all soap. Just variations in the same, basic ingredients of fat and lye.

16. I'm not sure I understand your need to reply to me like that
I'm not advocating that it's alright for a mega corporation like Proctor & Gamble to exploit an environmental disaster in order to sell soap. I was merely pointing out that the people rehabilitating the oil-covered wildlife probably aren't using the anti-bacterial version of the product. No Triclosan.

Look. I heard Contessa drop the brand name during her report this morning and all I could think was that it was the most cynical product placement I've ever heard. Dawn isn't "the only" dish soap that can clean the critters safely. As well, I'm more than positive the marketing department @ P&G were positively giddy with glee because they get to use this terrible spill as a way to make more money. It's cynical and wrong.

I also admit I have a tendency to butt into threads in order correct incorrect facts. It's an irritating quality and I apologize. I admire a passionate stance and want people to make the strongest argument possible. An argument isn't strong when the facts behind it are incorrect.

When I try to make a point using faulty information and I am corrected, I'm fine with that. Knowing the corrected truth makes me a stronger advocate.

11. Actually, the Snopes link says that Dawn is not any more harmful than other
dishwashing liquids. So I think it contradicts the alarm the OP is trying to raise here.

12. My frustration is
from observing corporations exploiting disaster for profit. I am not trying to alarm anyone... I am just voicing frustration with a system that does no good for people and so many of those people buy into the distortions
