Elena Kagan speaks with Justice Stevens at the 7th Circuit Bar Association and Judicial Conference
CHICAGO (AP) - Retiring U.S. Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens donned a Chicago Cubs jacket while talking about his career - and baseball - with judges and lawyers of Chicago's federal appeals court.

The 90-year-old justice spoke for about five minutes Monday night during the annual meeting of the 7th Circuit Bar Association and Judicial Conference of the 7th Circuit...

U.S. Solicitor General Elena Kagan also is expected to speak. The Chicago native is considered a leading candidate to replace Stevens.

"How fortunate is this country to have had Justice Stevens on the bench for the last 35 years? Answer, fortunate beyond all measure." Elena Kagan

Could there be any more foreshadowing (some deliberate and some coincidental) of her nomination?

1. God I hope not
It's bad enough what the Bush Crime Family has done to this court. We don't need a Democratic president pushing it more to the right.
