When will our country end the appeasement of the right wing?
Abstinence only education - Full of lies like "You can get AIDS through tears" and teen pregnancy rates have gone up in the areas where it is taught. But as soon as someone talks about slashing funding to it, conservatives say that person wants teenagers to go at it like rabbits or some other slander-worthy thing... and then funding is quietly put back in.

Cuba embargo - Just plain doesn't work. People should be able to freely travel over there, it could be easier for people to come over here if they wanted. But as soon as Republicans speak up, the discussion is over.

Don't ask don't tell - We're the only modern country that does this. No other modern country bans known gay soldiers from serving. And no study said it would affect the efficiency of the armed forces negatively. And we talk about ending it, but as soon as one chaplain or retired general opposes ending it, all of the sudden we have to put aside discussions of it for like the next 5 years.

Gay adoption bans - There is nothing (objective) that says gay people are no worse parents that straight ones. Even Florida's government admitted this, but they have to keep their ban in place, lest they offend old homophobic dinosaurs.

Tax cuts - We've had tax cuts for years, the only thing that has changed is that the rich have gotten richer and the poor have gotten poorer. And every time we talk about ending tax cuts, we get tea party protests that are basically all about "The tax cuts will work eventually and there will be jobs and prosperity. You'll see! You'll all see!" Yeah, don't hold your breath.

These are just some examples of conservative and Republican policies that cost us money, do not work, and yet, they are fully funded and supported by the government.

Our country is politically correct, politically correct towards the right wing. We need to support those in the government, the media, the military, and anywhere else who isn't afraid to stand up to the conservatives and tell them straight to their faces that their policies do not work. Acting like Droopy or Eeyore is not going to bring them to the table, it tells them that they're winning.

Another thing is the dreaded S-word (SOCIALISM!!!1111!! for those of you who don't know). We need to stop acting like "Oh, you just said "socialism" three times, that means my argument is moot and I am now dead. *dies*" Challenge them, make fun of it, ask them if they've got something original, do something.

The right wing is holding our country back from progressing, they're holding all of us back. And it's time to stop ignoring that.

1. Can't be soon enough for me.
Ruin is all that ever seems to lie in the wake of their rule.

2. It's all about the strength of the signal to noise -
The 20% or less right wing authoritarians scream about everything - even if they personally aren't being affected - and attract attention, looking like a larger group of involved people than they actually are. The rest of us go about our lives and only start making noise when something actually impacts us.
Over the past few decades, we have appeared smaller, they appeared larger, and they have spent this time accumulating power and money. And with that money, they have bought more power and platforms to scream from.
Until we as a society can actually wrap our heads around this, take back the outlets they use pretty much exclusively, and call them out for the small group of loudmouth bullies they are, they're going to be pulling the strings.
The problem is that they've had the stage long enough, they've tilted enough necessary resources their way and created enough useful drones that they can threaten to poison those resources and use their drones to protect their status if they feel they're being crossed.
They can't imagine giving up their power over the rest of us "unworthy beings" because their God "graced" them with riches as rewards for following the voices in their own heads. They are drowning in Pride, Greed, and Fear.
They aren't Christian, and they aren't American - even though they claim to be. They're Hedonists who created their own God in their own image.

3. One flaw in your argument - a significant minority of this country is right wing
And another significant minority is apolitical or politically moderate. Those two groups between them outnumber us.

I think the argument might be more productive if we talked about why the Democratic Party is so willing to let Republicans define the debate, rather than challanging them on their nonsense.

4. Where is the middle?
Your assertion would lead one to suspect you believe it's about where the MSM says it is. I'd argue it's actually far to the left of that, but we're the real "silent majority" because Corporate dollars and their frontman Fox News (sic) drown us out.

6. I agree with your "more productive argument."
They never challenge the lies. They never challenge them even if the lies are right in the Democrat's face. It is unbelievable and sickening. I have watched it too many times.

5. When will the U.S. end worship of the military? That's the actual question.
Because the right-wing owns the Pentagon.

So the answer to your question is: Never. Because there will be a military coup.
