what about that nuke plant on Florida's Gulf shore?


they have a water intake pipe that goes way out into the gulf because the water close to shore gets too hot in the summer to use.

will it intake the oil?

how will they know?

5. the pipes take water from well below the surface
to deal with the temperature issue...and oil floats...so no. use a little common sense...

The power plant says they have some kind of system in place to prevent oil from getting in.

The nuclear end of the power plant is rarely used, from what I understand. It's primarily a coal-burning plant.

Still a concern, I would think.

The manatees in our area are a real concern too.

14. There is no way they have a system to purify the water of emulsified oil
that is an incredible claim.

Also, the reactor has has been shut down since Sept. 09. They were replacing the turbines and found that the containment dome was (and had been for an unknown length of time, defective due to a large hidden crack:
