Why do Republicans hate our Constitutional safeguards?
THey are pissed about the alleged Times Square Bomber getting his Miranda warnings.

These idiot Senators, many of whom are lawyers, should know better.

If you don't Mirandize your suspect, the prosecution can have their ENTIRE CASE dismissed because of illegally-obtained testimony.

Criminal defense is all about filing a barrage of motions that shoot holes in the prosecution's case. Criminal Procedure is a fine art and a separate course in law school from Civil Procedure.

I have a law degree and used to work at the courthouse, so I know how important it is for both sides to follow the rules.

So these assholes would rather just have a weak case and have the cops beat the crap out of him instead of advising him of his rights.

Sen. Cornhole should know better. He used to be a State Civil District Judge in Houston.

4. They want so badly to be "at war" where they can do whatever they want to whomever they want.
They don't want to have to follow any Law. They want to torture and run roughshod over anyone they please and are getting pissed that many if not most Americans don't agree with them.

5. My takeaway
Republicans would prefer a thousand terrorists go free than have government agencies work they way they're supposed to. The efficiency and success of bringing the accused to justice just KILLS Republicans, because it shows that our nation's laws work just fine when competent people are put in charge. It also puts the lie to their demagogic squawking.

7. They aren't much on western civilization post Magna Carta
That's when their world started to come undone, the US Constitution in general and the Bill of Right specifically was a death blow, and then the equal and civil rights movements spread "the disease" to nearly everyone and they have been all hands on deck to reverse the several hundred year trend by all means necessary starting with damaging public education enough to put a serious crimp in critical thinking and even knowledge of our democratic heritage and constitutional government.

A free people and corporate feudalism don't mesh.

They don't deserve anything but a lynch mob and a rope. It's cheaper and more effective.

That's what the GOP think, anyway. And besides, if there are fewer laws to catch petty crimes,
their friends the white collar criminals who steal billions are that much safer.
