Bush-Quayle, In New Configuration

By Shira Toeplitz | May 5, 2010 5:22 PM

Former President George H. W. Bush and former First Lady Barbara Bush will make a rare political appearance by hosting a fundraiser at their Houston home -- but it isn't just for any House candidate.

Bush and his wife will host a fundraiser for Ben Quayle, the son of the president's former second-in-command, Vice President Dan Quayle. He's running in a crowded primary in Arizona's 3rd House district, the winner of which will be the favorite in this fall's general election in the overwhelmingly GOP district.

"I am very honored to have the support of President and Mrs. Bush, "Quayle said in a statement. "Barbara Bush is beloved by America and rightfully so. Her commitment to literacy and her graciousness are an example to us all. President Bush ended the Cold War and finally reunited Europe in freedom, a singular historical achievement." ...

4. "Ended the Cold War"
If any single person was most responsible for ending the Cold War, it was Gorbachev. And while Russia ended the Cold War, for the most part, we never really did. We just added more 'enemies'.

5. Barbara Bush's "graciousness"--yes, I remember it well

The way she refused to waste her beautiful mind on worrying about Katrina's victims and suggesting that the kids were actually enjoying their time off from school!
