BBC announcer on election troubles: "It's Third World politics, isn't it?"
Anchors covering the election are registering open disgust for voters being disallowed from voting because of long lines at the polls. Can anyone imagine Brian Williams, Charlie Gibson, or Katie Couric blasting our process in such a way on election night?

It's interesting watching British election coverage compared to how the MSM in America cover politics. The announcers are crazy informed. When a female anchor busted out a giant map of elections past and delved into minutiae, rattling off numbers and implications as if they were her own name and address, I was duly impressed.

No inside the Beltway babbling and sucking up, either.

Riveting stuff.

1. They'll get used to it, just like we did. Now it's expected.
We've accepted it, they will, too.

2. The criteria for getting a job at the BBC requires intelligence. You
don't have to be blonde, an ex-beauty queen or a model or a guy with a good haircut. Smart, the British education system...sigh.

3. BBC actually reports the news. CNN/Fox and their kind report on entertainment
issues and sometimes headline news. Everything is based on the anchor's sometimes/mostly ignorant opinion (with the BBC you are seeing actual 'news reporters' vs. what we have in the States - 'pundits'). It is sad, but that is how CNN/FOX make money vs. actually reporting on news and not be driven by the bottem line of the company.

4. Same thing on SKY News
The announcer was comparing it to Afghanistan, Iraq, and "other coutires we try to make democracies in".
