Apparently the rule that, if you're on line at closing time you're still allowed to vote is not a uniform policy at UK polling stations.

6. The UK isn't RW controlled. At least, not yet.

4. The rule appears to be "if you're in the building, you can stay"
One or 2 stations packed everyone in and then shut the doors; most that had people waiting seem to have shut the doors on the queue.

5. The issue in Sheffield
was apparently caused by an excessive number of mainly students turning up without their poll numbers and to make it worse indecisive addresses meant they had to be verified manually on the electoral register. A jobsworth closed the doors in Sheffield whereas in Newcastle they stayed open longer. Not sure what the issue is down in Islington South / Hackney where there is now a sit in.
