Stop insulting the teabaggers.
Teabagging is a sexual act. Partners who perform that act consensually don't deserve to be compared to mobs of people who hate America.

5. Maybe you misunderstood me...
I read on DU today that the right wing freak nuts are the ones that started using the term "teabagging" before anyone else. From there, everyone took it and ran. I think it's a horrible term when referring to a person, and agree with you. I'm sure someone that does "teabag" would most definitely want to be grouped in with these radical extreme right wing idiots. :)

19. This has been an interesting thread.
I objected to the comparison between the right-wing tea parties and those who engage in unusual sexual practices, _because it's an insult to those who participate in unusual sexual practices_. My sentences were clear and uncomplicated. Some people understood, and responded with wry humor of their own -- which is often easy to mistake for not getting it. Others clicked on the thread ready to argue, and didn't actually read what I said; the imprecision doesn't bother me, but I do wonder about the readiness to accept the idea that there's something insulting _to the tea party_ in the comparison with those who teabag. If people made fun of the tea partiers by calling them "fags," would that be an insult to the tea partiers or to gay people?

26. Just wondering: What is an 'unusual sexual practice'???
Edited on Sat May-08-10 10:28 AM by AnArmyVeteran
I don't think you're advocating have 'sexual police squads' or 'laws written' to stop two consenting any adults from doing whatever they want to do. But what person in authority should even have the right to define 'unusual sexual practices', unless such acts are NOT between two consenting adults? Every culture has their own set of mores, just as different cultures approach sexuality different. Some are prudish and uptight about sex, while others believe it to be a completely innocent way of physical expression. Even with all the sex constantly shown on US media the United States is one of the most uptight and prudish societies in the world. Europeans and even aboriginal peoples around the world have a more open and (imo) a healthier and more advanced view of human sexuality than Americans do.

Tea Baggers began using the term. Others should not be blamed when describing them using the term they created. I don't think it rises to the level of hated of people because of their sexual orientation as some as suggested. Perhaps a little thought should have been put into the 'branding' of their name prior to using it. But that requires thought, and I don't see much 'thought' coming from a "typical right wing people wearing tea bags all over their hats or bodies" (See: Isn't it easier just to use 'tea bagger' than all those words!) :)

All the best...

36. In answer to the last question first, both.
In England, a fag is a cigarette. In America, a fag is a male homosexual prostitute. Obviously, few gays of either gender are also prostitutes, and it is insulting to call anyone a prostitute.

To imply that the so-called "tea partiers" are gay is indeed an insult to gays. And I agree with your main point, that hey, if folks want to tea-bag, and they're consenting adults, there's nothing wrong with it.

Neither would I say it is an "unusual" practice. I can but won't tell you what my wife and I do, but I can't guess (and wouldn't try) what others do. Americans have HUGH hangups about sex; some kinds of sexual behavior are seen as "normal" and other kinds as "abnormal" or "unusual", and the only justification for such terms (like unusual) is the presumption that they are practiced rather less than other kinds of sex. Which is ridiculous; unless I watch others, how do I know? Can't really tell from adult videos; they're putting out whatever will sell.

And it is astonishing to what lengths folks will go to stamp out practices they consider "deviant" while simultaneously practicing some pretty strange stuff themselves!

You are correct. I am sure many women like to teabag, there are men who like to teabag, and I bet few men would object to receiving such treatment in private from the object of their own affections. Calling tea-partiers "teabaggers" is indeed an insult to those who like to, um, you know, um... "tea-bag." I will stop doing it.

However, can you recommend a better name for them? "Tea-Party" people is inappropriate, too, on a couple levels, not least of which they've purloined the name of an important patriotic event in our nation's history. These morons should not be compared to the colonists who silently boarded British ships in the dead of night and dumped their precious, high-taxed monopoly-provided tea overboard. And I LIKE TEA! I drink it all the time. Bastards. What can we call them, then, these misguided fools?

In the meantime, while it's being decided, I'll just stick to "loony, nutcase, shit-for-brains teabaggers."

That is all.

But this is a free country... But that would be a good description of a right wing conservative extremists who wear bags of tea on their hats and bodies. And being downwind of a tea bagger protest would probably smell worse than the coffee table...

BTW, is that what Pittsburgians do in their spare time?
