3 Lejeune-based Marines killed in HelmandThe Associated Press

CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. — Military officials on Monday announced the deaths of three North Carolina-based Marines who were serving in Afghanistan.
The Defense Department said that Lance Cpl. Christopher Rangel, 22, of San Antonio died May 6. Authorities said Lance Cpl. Joshua M. Davis, 19, of Perry, Iowa, died May 7.
The military also said that Cpl. Kurt S. Shea, 21, of Frederick, Md., died Monday.
Rangel, Davis and Shea were killed in Helmand province. Officials provided no additional details on how they died.
The Marines were assigned to 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, out of Camp Lejeune.

As of this morning (5.11.2010) one hundred seventeen Americans have been killed in Afghanistan this year, which equals the total number of deaths in Afghanistan in 20007.
