I know it's kind of early
but what are your predictions for the 2010 federal election? I expect that the Dems will lose at least a few seats given what I've seen from mid-terms so far but do you believe it's going to be the bloodbath every pundit seems to expect? Do you expect the crazies to take completely over (I mean more than they already have?) or am I over-reacting to the what happened with the re-writing of the repub platform in Maine? Also, I don't like being in a state of constant panic and used to be windy252 until I had an issue with my previous email account.

1. I've already forgotten about HCR. I remember that the financial crisis is republican
I hope that the Dinos get voted out even if that means giving up the Senate..

2. Here's my prediction
Texas will elect its first Democratic Governor in 15 years.

Go Bill White! http://action.billwhitefortexas.com

As for an overall prediction, I think the GOP is in for a nasty surprise courtesy of the teabaggers. Anti-Incumbent fever will hit them the hardest. They'll have ousted many long-term GOP legislators and replaced them with teabagger candidates who won't be able to win general elections.

3. I had found the teabaggers concerning
as I was more concerned about a "teabagger" majority. Then again, I have had a gut feeling that this may be turning off independents and my gut feeling was right on the invasion of Iraq in '03.

5. They're no majority
They're just very noisy. The media loves a freak show and that is one of the main reasons why baggers have so many cameras pointed at them.

4. In New Hampshire, I believe all three Federal offices up for election will go Republican.
Edited on Tue May-11-10 08:44 PM by Tesha
This will mean -2 for the Democrats in the House (as the
seats currently held by Paul Hodes and Carol Shea-Porter
go to Republicans) and no change in the Senate (as the seat
currently held by Republican Judd Gregg goes to whoever
is the Republican nominee over Paul Hodes).

I'm pretty sure that, nationwide, it will be a blow-out as well.

Our "Democratic" governor will be re-elected but he's not
really a Democrat (nudge-nudge, wink-wink).

8. I believe the Democrats will be blown-out of office in a landslide.
It's starting to be too late for them to actually *ACCOMPLISH* anything
beyond "Health Insurance Reform" before election season starts.

And it's not clear that the people think much of their Health Insurance
Reform; I certainly don't.

9. It feels like it's "throw out the incumbent" time but some of that
can be taken care of in primaries. It also seems as though this election will be more about localities than about parties. But, that's just my take.

It would be interesting to see how many voters are self-identifying as party members or supports today compared to 2008.

I wouldn't panic yet.
